“I get to be whatever I want to be. I can make up my own character and no one limits my ideas! That’s why I like it so much!”

Speak To Me Gabriel (STMG) has an amazing track record of encouraging children and

young people to develop their creative talents in both art and drama.

About Paulo

Paulo Baigent, a qualified and experienced Primary teacher, has been an Art and Drama teacher

for many years, most recently at two amazing Bath primary schools, Newbridge and Batheaston.

He runs after-school and holiday drama and art clubs and is Youth Director at Bath's

Rondo Theatre. Get in touch if you'd like to find out more about the Rondo Drama Club, which

runs throughout the year on a Tuesday and is open to 8-11 year olds. Rondo Summer School is

held in the summer, with one week at the start of the school holidays and a second at the end.

Our Summer School webpage has all the details.

Our approach

Children and young people are at the centre of the creative process. Rather than having a

structure imposed on them, they are empowered to develop their own work. In our drama

groups, they are the conceptualisers, storytellers, playwrights and co-directors. In our art

groups, they are able to choose their own direction.

Although parents say they are impressed by what they see, it is their children's experience
that

counts most for us.

Benefits for children and young people

  • Developing real confidence as artists/performers and people

  • Unleashing their creative spirit

  • Learning valuable skills - for the arts and for life

  • Experiencing the fun of creativity

  • Encouraging a belief in themselves as creative people, hopefully a belief that will last for life.

"The art [my child] produced at art club was impressive. With the time to get into each project in more depth than at school,

and with Paulo's skilled support, the results were amazing. But the best part was how she and the rest of the group saw themselves as artists."
